#1: Wash your car!

Most of us know that Mother Nature tends to have an odd sense of humor sometimes, and can be quite the contrarian. Washing your car so that it can shine on those bright sunny days is a sure way to fool Mother Nature into “raining (snowing) on your parade.” 

#2: make an offering to Ullr

Some say that Ullr, the Norse God of Winter takes control of the weather for a few months a year and is to thank or blame for cold snaps and large snow storms. To appease this god and receive his blessings, it is believed that a sacrifice must be made. Most ski areas have a designated tree for just such offerings, and avid powder hounds have been known to leave beads, bras and even ski and snowboard boots all in an effort to boost their Winter.

#3: Do a snow dance

Not that anyone needs an excuse to cut loose and dance up some endorphins, but dancing with a higher purpose, such as making it snow, might just make Mother Nature smile and grant your wish. 

#4: Put your trail maps in the freezer

Grab that stash of trail maps you’ve got laying around from your last few ski trips, say a blessing and shove them right into your home freezer! This will certainly break that hex that’s keeping the storms away from your local resort. 

#5: Pray for snow

God, Allah, Buddha, Ullr, Mother Nature, Old Man Winter… whoever you choose to pray to, just get after it! Some higher power is sure to hear you, and take pity on your soul! Right?
